Why you decide to do, but you don't follow through.

Image
No follow through - by Tim Wade In March 2018 I received confirmation that I would be delivering nine unique keynotes on a cruise ship in October that year. One of the topics was titled Get Healthier Finally and I figured I had 6 months to shape up before having to deliver that one. Excellent. Six months for me to get healthier finally. That's doable. Except I didn't follow through. Tell the truth Are there some decisions you've made that were awesome decisions, but then you never took any action? I'll tell you the truth: for me there have been a lot. It's almost as if I know what to do, I decide to do it, I might even want to do it, but I don't do it. And it drives me crazy. And it probably drives others crazy too. I'm not exclusively like that. Sometimes I make decisions bordering on impulsive, act immediately, boom: result. My recent trek to Everest is an example of that. (There are pros and cons with that approach as well. Sometimes that sort ...

Getting over the Fear of Public Speaking, by Tim Wade Motivational Speaker

Image
Getting over the Fear of Public Speaking, by Tim Wade Motivational Speaker Apparently the fear of public speaking ranks higher than the fear of dying. Perhaps that's because those fearing public speaking actually fear dying on stage and then living with the shame of it forever. I'm Tim Wade, a professional motivational speaker, Singapore -based, global clients. And I remember my worst ever speech. Pensively pre-speech ... in Japan, 29 Jan 2011 - Tim Wade The worst speech I ever gave It was at boarding school in Melbourne, Australia, when I had to give a farewell speech for one of the house tutors. I didn’t know him at all... and I did less research about him than those who oppose climate change. My speech consisted of only the following words: “Tonight we farewell Mr White who, as we all know, has a motorbike.” And I took about 8 minutes saying that in various different ways before deciding to sit down. My walk back to my seat after my moti...

The power of Fun in getting more done

Image
I'm a big believer in rewarding your own effort. And today, after I dropped Zoe off at school, I'm here in a coffee shop by the beach. But my reward is - and I'm on a health and fitness kick - a giant breakfast. Full video of this post is at the bottom of the page! The reason why I'm finally on a health kick now is that I put a giant end goal in the middle of October: I'm doing a health talk about how to get fit and healthy on a cruise ship. Not how to get fit and healthy on a cruise ship, but the talk is on a cruise ship, and it's about how to get fit and healthy. So I figure it's probably a good idea that I'm reasonably fit and healthy by the time I get to the cruise ship or else it's going to look incongruous and idiotic. And I'm going to be pretty embarrassed. YOUR REWARDS So: Mindset of Victory. Victory has rewards. Breakfast: protein reward. There's a gym in my condo so I could just go down to the gym and ...

Starting your New Year's Resolutions today = 526% more success

Image
Starting your New Year's Resolutions today = 526% more success. If you start your New Year's Resolutions today, you will be 526% more likely to succeed at them. When you start your New Year's Resolutions today, rather than wait until New Year's Day, you're 526% more likely to succeed at achieving those resolutions. Because you're 5 times more likely to be committed to delivering the OUTCOME rather than just the annual intention if you start in December. Okay, here's the breakdown: 100% -- Because 1st Jan is when you're supposed to declare rather than actually do anything. That's why most resolutions are abandoned or forgotten by 17 Jan. Because the goal is to declare rather than do. And as soon as we go back to work we forget about the new and get back into the old. 200% -- Because the new you starts today, not some other day, and you want to start the new year already running, not fluffing around looking for your brand new gym shoes...

Hang in there, one day your mess will become your message

Image
HANG IN THERE, ONE DAY YOUR MESS WILL BECOME YOUR MESSAGE. You're going through this so you can help someone else... I believe whatever you're in right now is not something that is happening to you, it’s happening for you, and more specifically, it's happening for you to draw from when helping someone else. In time to come. So as you live through it, also observe it, remember it, learn from it, and as you seek and find resources within you and around you to come out from it, remember to keep your eyes and ears open for those you are to share your journey with, to help them through theirs. 🙂 I heard "One day your mess will become your message" at church last Sunday morning from a video of a local tennis star quoting from a book that helped save her life during a low, a suicidal low. It moved me enough to write about it here. Hopefully, it‘ll give an amazing perspective to someone who could use a higher point of view right now. - Tim Wade Tim...

Do the work - the gentle kick in the pants you might need

Image
Tweet Image Have you - in the past of course - been too lazy to be more successful? Or richer or healthier or to get the results you want or whatever? You already know what you need to do. Do the work dude. You know it. Just do it. Get annoyed enough with yourself for not doing it so that you do it. So what do you need to do? The stuff you've been putting off usually. The stuff you avoid. The stuff you make excuses about not being able to do. Fat and don't like running? Start running. But my knee... Walk then... My other knee... Swim. Stop making stupid excuses that blame something else other than your resistance to doing what needs to be done. Albert Gray, an insurance guy in the 1940s said in a famous speech titled The Common Denominator of Success , "The common denominator of success is that successful people form the habit of doing things that failures don't like to do." We all have areas of our life that we could be more successful in. So w...

Not happy with something? Be a vocational actionary.

Image
Tweet Image Not happy about something? Decide to change it or influence it to change. Posting it on social media won't change anything except other peoples' good opinions of you. Instead take some positive action right now. Make an appointment, send an email, book a thing, make a call, write a letter, join a movement, walk over to a desk, whatever. Just do it. Warning: choose your words and your approach wisely. If you're not happy with a person, for example, don't go all volcanic eruption all over them with pent up molten lava. Think about how to tell them in a way that will deliver a solution for them and for you. Like, "Hey, I've noticed you become like a condescending Facebook troll for the majority of my posts or comments. It seems weird that you seem to publicly put-down-to-one-up me yet be nice to every one else. What's really going on here?" Initiate a solution. Work to make it happen. Don't be a vocal complacenary. Be a vocation...

Resolve to craft the better you, daily.

Image
Resolve this year to live more simply. Declutter your house, your stuff, your online world, your body, your options. Resolve this year to give more intently. As you declutter your house and stuff, give the things way mindfully. Look for those in need and be involved in the giving. Not for ego, but to develop greater compassion. Resolve this year remove the nonsense from your online world. That's the stuff that is either distracting you, or you're feeding your mind with rubbish. Choose who you're going to hang around online, who you're willing to be influenced by and what you're going to expose yourself to. Get rid of the leeches, the parasites, and the hypocrites. Remove the sensationalists and others who are simply desperate to get you to click and view at any cost. Not at our cost, thanks. Unfollow. Remove all the options that distract you from adding your value to the world. Resolve this year to sculpt your body more consciously. Eat well. Drink pure. Work ...

Happy New Life!

Image
It's a new year! And while that usually means dusting off old resolutions and spinning them around for 3 weeks, what if we took a different perspective on the commitment we'd like to make at this time of year? What if this period of reflection and optimism about the fresh start of a new year is actually the fresh start of a new life? If today is the day of your new life, and the old you is being replaced and transformed into the new you, and you're in the Transformation Shop telling the Transformation Specialist all the things that you'd like included, tweaked and removed in your upgraded version of yourself and your life... what would you ask for? There was a scene in the movie The Matrix, when Cypher is agreeing to the betrayal of the team to Agent Smith over a juicy steak dinner. It's then that he dictates how he would like to experience his new life, "And I want to be rich. Someone important. Like an actor. You can do that, right?" You can do th...
