The Proclaimers would walk 1000 miles to Florence... and her name was Dani.

Where is the mythical place that the Proclaimers would walk 1000 miles to? For a start the assumptions in the map in the image is wrong. And while mountainous regions would skew the radius of possibility, let me explain why I think her door is in Italy. I began assuming that her door, where he falls down, would have to be 500 miles from the chunnel exit in France. That's because I'm assuming that walking while on a vehicle (bus/train/car/ferry/aeroplane) is disqualified, as is breaking up the trip using any sort of transport. That means he has to walk through the Channel Tunnel in a vehicle lane. I initially had started him in Edinburgh and arrived at a possibility that she lived in Plaisance-du-Touch, just outside of Toulouse... because she was pleasant to touch and he had nothing Toulouse. While you might be tempted to tell yourself to invest in Apple, or Google, or Amazon... or Bitcoin when it was $1, there's one difference: you can't be sure specific stocks are going to perform the same way. You don't know exactly what the future might hold, but you do have your wisdom from now. What do you force yourself to do? Merry Christmas

Offsetting our cruise

  When I posted online about how wonderful our cruise to nowhere was with Royal Caribbean, someone in the comments said they won't take cruises because of the environmental impact of cruises. My response was that we're triple offsetting everything. Which means when we travel we offset ourselves, somebody else in board who is ignorant to the problem, and an idiot politician who can do something about it but isn't. Even with Royal Caribbean's environmental programs reducing their emissions dramatically, we choose to also offset our impacts. So by us travelling the planet is better off than if we didn't. And once everything else is offset for climate positive living, then life can be lived from a position of climate consistency rather than pointing with one hand and spoiling with the other - something I've been trying to avoid. In other words if I'm using aircon and not offsetting, then I'm part of the problem. So we offset our cruise. Here's my researc...

De-living Happiness

  Disconnecting from humanity is not the way to deliver happiness to yourself. There is something majestic about Tony Hsieh's pursuit of happiness, something tragically pathetic about his Utah solution, and something horrific about his death. I just read the Forbes article. I'm troubled enough to write this.   When your only circle of friends are people you are paying, employees paid to be happy around you, you will neither be told the truth nor truly loved.   The real experience of love requires free will. That is risky. You could be denied, abandoned, betrayed, hurt, rejected. And it requires relinquishing control.
